Spring is for Cleaning

So, what I thought I would share this week is some of my favorite cleaning items and why I like them. Read to the end of the article for an offer just for my website friends.
Delete Germ started out as just a toilet bowl cleaner. We acquired this product about 45 years ago. Originally sold only to hospitals, it not only cleaned toilets but also served as a disinfectant, which was important to hospitals. It's amazing ability to dissolve even the toughest hard water deposits makes it the perfect toilet bowl cleaner. The nice part is that it has a nice peppermint smell, unlike most cleaners that smell like strong acids. A few years after having Delete Germ on the shelf, we realized it could also clean glass shower doors and porcelain tubs. This makes Delete Germ your #1 choice for bathroom cleaning. It comes in quarts and gallons.
Odors are always a challenge for most households. That’s why I always recommend two products: Air Sponge and Bio Zapp. Unlike air fresheners or candles that add fragrance to the air, Air Sponge and Bio Zapp are odor neutralizers. Air Sponge is for any lingering odor in the air. Food odors, pet odors, paint, bathroom odors, musty smells, and smoke odors are all eliminated with an Air Sponge. Simply lift the lid on the Air Sponge and place it in the room. The Air Sponge molecules will rise into the air, capture odor molecules, and pull them down to the floor, where they evaporate. Air Sponge comes in 3 sizes: ½ lb, 1 lb, and 4 lb. If you have an extreme odor, open the Air Sponge, turn it upside down, and expose 75% of the product. This will “shock” the air, clearing the odor faster.
Bio Zapp is used to eliminate odors from carpets, drapes, concrete, tile, and furniture. Let’s say you have a puppy that you are trying to potty train, and they always come back to the same area and mark it again. It’s because they can smell that scent down in the carpet. You have cleaned it, and it looks good, but the smell goes down into the pad and the concrete. And so, no matter how much you clean the top of the carpet, they can smell the odor from below. Spray (soak) the area and let it air dry. It might take a few times. Or if you buy a car and the previous owner was a smoker, spray the carpet, the headliner, and the trunk carpet. Bio Zapp comes in quart and gallon sizes.
Stainless steel appliances are beautiful, but they are a constant source of fingerprints. There are several products that will clean, but Shiela Shine also provides protection. You can use it to shine refrigerators, dishwashers (which also remove water spots), stainless steel sinks, and outdoor BBQ pits. Shiela Shine is an aerosol and can be applied with a soft rag or my favorite Libman Microfiber on a roll.
Speaking of dishwashers, Glisten Dishwasher Magic is the best cleaner that I have used. Remove the top of Glisten, and you will see a plug in the top. Do not remove that plug. It’s the reason that this product works better than any other cleaner. In an empty dishwasher, place Glisten in the top rack. Then turn the dishwasher to the longest, hottest cycle (the pots-and-pan cycle). Turn on the washer. The first thing you will hear is the pump clearing out the water in the bottom of the washer, and if you just poured in a cleaner, out it goes with the water. But the Glisten doesn’t start cleaning until the water is at its hottest, and the cycle is the longest. Not only does Glisten clean, but it also disinfects. On older dishwashers, use it once a month.
One of the best floor grout cleaners is Stonetech Deep Klenz. Spray it on, let it work, then give it a scrub with a wallpaper brush. I like suggesting a wallpaper brush because you can clean almost three feet at a time. Rinse thoroughly by mopping and let air dry.
