Send Mice and Pests Packing

When I talk about pest control, I get so many questions. It seems that mice do not care whether you have a million-dollar home in a gated community or are in a starter home. Rats and mice are equal opportunity pests. And they can invade not only homes but businesses too. That’s what brings me to this article. We had tried carrying bird seed, and although I never saw a mouse or rat in the store, if we put bird seed out on the shelf, we would see activity. I was so frustrated. We have a beautiful area dedicated to birds and feeders. My customer would want to buy a feeder, and I would have to send them down the road to purchase seed. Well, that was not very convenient for my customers. And I hate telling my customers ...no. It’s just not in my vocabulary. But at a Do It Best show in Indy a few years back I came across a new vendor and he was selling a repellent called Morgans. I see repellents all the time, but this vendor had a video to back up his claims. And this video showed a warehouse that housed bird seed and other farm and ranch bagged goods. Well watching the video, you could tell they were having a terrible time with pests running all over the warehouse costing them thousands in lost inventory. And then as the video played on you noticed the activity slow down each day until finally there was no pests. I was amazed and ordered Morgans for my store and for my customers. And you know what else I did at that show…. I ordered bird seed!
Morgan’s Repellent is a true repellent. I like recommending a repellent instead of a poison or trap. I have never had reliable results with poisons. How many of you have been frustrated and then made the decision to place out poison. And the mice die. But they die in the walls of your home or in the attic and your whole house smells for 90 days. So that’s why I like to send them packing. So let me tell you the best way to use Morgan’s.
First Morgan’s comes in a 2.5 container that will last you for 90 days. The container will cover a 400 square foot area. It is made pumice stones infused with essentials oils. Morgan’s comes in two scents, garlic and peppermint cinnamon. Since it comes in pumice stones it deters children and pets. But I tell all my customers to leave it in the container. Taking a ¼ inch drill bit, drill about 6 holes in the top of the lid of the jar. Leave the lid on. The scent will permeate the area you are trying to treat without broadcasting the pellets. That way, in 90 days when you are ready to replace the repellent, you just pick up the container, throw it away and put out a new container. I feel like it is cleaner.
Use Morgan’s in the garage, attic, storage shed, boat house and storage warehouse areas. It’s a great solution for chicken houses, stored RV’s and apartments. You want to place the repellent about 48 to 96 inches above the floor. I know that surprised me too. But here is the reason; if you put the repellent down on the ground, you might block their escape plan, and you certainly don’t want to do that.
Why does it work? The oils in the repellent blocks the pest's ability to recognize if a predator is near, so they leave. I use it in my store, and we never see any activity in the store.
Now to the email….
Question: I remember you writing about how to clean a glass shower door with Delete Germ and using Invisible Shield to keep it clean. Well, I have the article on Invisible Shield, but I lost the article on Delete Germ. Can you go over that again.
Answer: Sure, put a stream of Delete Germ on ½ of the glass shower door. Then using a Libman Green Scrubby sponge start cleaning the door. The door will feel rough at first, but as the hard water come off the glass will get slick. Rinse immediately. Then do the bottom ½ of the door. Remember never leave Delete Germ on the glass, start cleaning immediately and then rinse completely. Then rinse it again. Hope this helps, call me if you have a question.
