Revive and Restore for Rust

  • , by Trudy Chuoke Trudy Chuoke

I am so excited to tell you about a product that we had over 2 years ago that worked great on rust. My customers loved the product so much that soon I was calling the supplier to order more. But when I called the supplier to reorder, they said they had decided to discontinue the product, and it was no longer available. But when I called last week to reorder Clobber and VS102, I was told that Restore and Revive had been remade and were available. I did a happy dance.

Many years ago, we had a product called Rust Cure. It was an amazing product that neutralized rust. But then Jim retired, and Rust Cure was no longer available. But after a long search, I found two other products, Restore and Revive, that would accomplish the same thing, and we ordered them. Restore is a brushable rust neutralizer and Revive is a convenient spray can.  Let me tell you a story about how we used Restore.

My son-in-law bought a big truck from the City of San Antonio. It had a long 12-foot bed on it with a lift gate on the side. It was perfect for all the construction work he does. There was only one problem: the truck's bed was rusty. My daughter and son-in-law were staying with me at the time, and he found the one gallon of Rust Cure that I had left in my closet in the garage.  He asked if he could use it on the truck bed.  I said he could, but would he try using Restore first, and if he didn’t like it, he could use my last gallon of Rust Cure. I really didn’t want him to use the Rust Cure; I’m sentimental about stuff like that. If you open up the closet in my garage, it’s like a museum of things I can’t get anymore but can’t part with the last one. I left for work thinking that my last gallon of Rust Cure would probably be gone when I got home.

Well, when I returned home from work, instead of my granddaughter bouncing up to meet me, it was my son-in-law. He wanted me to see the truck bed he had finished while I was at work. When I walked outside, I looked at the truck and said, “You used the Rust Cure?” ... he laughed...” no... it was the Restore!”

No rust was showing. The truck's bed looked polished, as if it had been varnished. Restore was cured, and he could have used it to work that day. I couldn’t believe it. Restore will prevent erosion and rust on machinery, tools, vehicles, equipment, boats, metal buildings, and wrought iron fencing. When brushed on, Restore chemically converts rust into a black organic complex. A clear acrylic coating is formed. The coating is sufficient to last for years without painting, or it can be painted over using latex, oil-based, or epoxy paint. Restore extends the life of anything made of metal. And wherever you brush on Restore, it will NEVER rust there again. And that’s a real money saver. Restore comes in quart and gallon sizes.

And the sister product to Restore is Revive. Revive is a spray. So convenient to use for small metal pieces like tools, metal pieces with many curved areas, planters and planter holders, metal signs, bicycles, and toys. Revive is the quick and easy way to treat rusted surfaces. Once treated, you can paint with oil or latex to improve the appearance and protection. And just like Restore, Revive keeps your metal from ever rusting again.

Whether you have a big project like my son-in-law or just a small household project, these two products are excellent. You won’t need to sand; just brush off any flaking rust so your paint job will look smooth. Go to the website to order.
