Mold Control with Concrobium

By the time you read this you are two weeks out from Hurricane Beryl. You were without power and had to deal with flood water along with the heat of the summer. I talked with family in Houston, and they had just gotten power back on at his office. It’s just a terrible scenario that happens to you when hurricane season hits. So, I want to give you some information for the problems that come up after the water has receded.
Hopefully, you didn’t get water into the house, but the humidity can be intense and leave your home smelling musty and stale without air conditioning for days. The best way to neutralize that odor is with an Air Spongee your Air Sponge where it can get air flow, that way it will start cleaning the air faster. The one-pound size will be good for around 300 square feet. If your odor is intense, try this solution. When you open Air Sponge, instead of just lifting the lid, turn Air Sponge upside down placing the contents on the lid. Take off the container that Air Sponge was in and now you are exposing 75% of the product. This will “shock” the air and treat the air quicker. For smaller rooms like bedrooms, laundry rooms and baths a ½ pound Air Sponge will be perfect.
If you did get water in the house or just the garage you know mold doesn’t show up right away. No, it takes a while for it to grow and as soon as you see it you want to take measures to keep your family healthy. For mold caused by water damage there is a product called Concrobium. It’s not a mildew stain remover, there are products specifically made for that. Concrobium is for mold remediation. It will eliminate mold and prevent mold growth. Let me give you some tips if your mold risk is in a small area and you want to tackle this yourself. First equip yourself with gloves, goggles and a mask, an N-95 mask will be best. The mask is not for Concrobium because there is no bleach, VOCs, and no smell… you want to use the mask because of the mold. And remember this product is not for the staining attributed from mold, it is just for the elimination of mold spores. Buy the gallon of Concrobium, it’s more economical. First clean the area if there is heavy soil, Concrobium must come in contact with mold to be effective. Apply product to the area and get it evenly wet. Allow the area to dry. That’s it, now you might have to apply the product again, if you see more growth. Just repeat the process.
Now if you see mildew staining on the outside of the house, siding, wood, stucco, brick, and stone there is another way to take care of the staining. If it’s light staining, 30 Seconds Outdoor Cleaner is the most economical and easy way to rid yourself of the stain. They make a hose end formula that you just attach to the garden hose and start cleaning. And if it’s a small area, less than 10 x 15 area this is super simple and quick. However, if the area is larger, I would suggest purchasing the gallon size that is a concentrate. It will make 2 gallons when mixed with water. Put it in a pump-up sprayer and start from the top of the stain and work your way down. Let it work and then rinse with water. Don’t worry about your landscape, the product will be so diluted that it will not harm your foliage or grass. If after the area is dry you still see a shadow of a stain, repeat the process.
