Grilling on the Go!

  • , by Trudy Chuoke Trudy Chuoke

It’s Memorial Day weekend, and people are celebrating the holiday. Many of us have a direct experience with those who lost their lives protecting our precious country. We gather with family and friends and do what all citizens do when we celebrate… we get together and eat. Camping, tailgating, BBQing outdoors, going to parks, going to the lake, and just stopping for a minute from busy lives to enjoy each other. And maybe your get-together includes cooking outdoors.

When you go to the park to cook, what do you have to do? First, you look for a grill that no one is using. Then, you would have had to pack up everything necessary … charcoal, matches, lighter fluid, foil. Once you have it all together, you light it... and wait. But what if I told you there is an easier way? It’s so convenient. It’s called Pull Start Fire Grill. And it’s everything you need to grill in a 12 x 18 package. With this, you can be cooking those steaks, burgers, and hot dogs in just 5 minutes.

I found the best portable grill at the last Do It Best Show. It was right across from all the big boy grills. And I think it fills such a gap between “heavy duty grill” and a fire that you learned how to do when you were a scout. Pull Start Fire Grill comes in a prepackaged box. It’s light, weighing only 3 lbs. It’s small. So, you can pack it. And it’s easy... so even if you weren’t a scout, you can do this.

Pull out the grill, set it on the base. It’s pre-loaded with a solid brick of charcoal. You will be cooking on a safe, clean stainless steel mesh grill. It’s got pull-start technology that starts the fire with one pull of the string. Then you are cooking in 5 minutes, and you get a continuous cooking surface for the next 3 hours. Yes, 3 hours. You can cook steaks, potatoes, and beans in a pot, and then keep the grill going for those late comers who always want to make an entrance. You know who they are.

So, for your next cookout, camping trip, boat ride with dinner, or just a meal in your own backyard... check out how easy it would be with Pull Start Fire Grill. They will be on our website for $26.99. This would be a great gift for a new homeowner, a graduate, or anyone who wants to cook outdoors without the prep or clean-up. When you're done with this grill, toss a glass of water on it and throw it away!

Now to the email....

Question: My oven door makes the most awful squeak when I open and close it while cooking. What can I use to stop the squeak?

Answer: With a cool oven, use Tri-Flow on the hinge area of the door. It’s a lightweight lube that allows for deep penetration for hard-to-reach places. It can safely work in high-heat areas.

Question: I notice that when I flush my toilet, the water that enters the tank is cloudy. When I lifted the lid of the tank, the water inside was cloudy. I think if I could clean the tank, the water in the bowl would be clearer. What can I clean with that won’t damage any of the plastic plumbing parts in the tank?

Answer: Use Instant Power Tank Cleaner. Pour ½ container into the tank at night. Stir the tank water to ensure a consistent mixture. Let it work overnight. Repeat if necessary and use it as a maintenance cleaner.

Question: A tile fell off the shower wall and luckily did not break. I want to reinstall it and was wondering what kind of glue will hold up in the shower?

Answer: You want to use an adhesive that is also a grout. That would be Clean Seal made by Sashco Sealants. Clean off the back of the tile as best as you can. Clean the space where it fell from. Then apply Clean Seal to the shower wall and the back of the tile in a big X. Place the tile back on the shower wall. Use painter's tape to secure in place. (so it doesn’t slide) Let it cure for 48 hours. Then grout around the tile with Clean Seal. Bead around the tile and smooth with your finger. To get a smooth finish, apply a little liquid soap to your finger, then smooth Clean Seal.
