Great Neck Screw Starter

Some of my best days start with a conversation from a customer looking for a product that they really want in their toolbox. My customer said he had looked through my entire screwdriver section and he didn’t see what he was looking to buy. He was looking for a screwdriver that would start a hole in sheet rock and wood that would be an easy way to mark and start screwing in a fastener. I showed him where it was and decided I wanted to give you a quick reminder of this very convenient tool.
Great Neck Screw Hole Starter looks like a regular screwdriver with a tip that looks like a pointed screw extractor. The pointed end will easily mark exactly where you want to start your screw. Then once you mark the spot, continue to turn the screwdriver and it will thread the hole so that your screw will go in smoothly. It’s perfect for sheet rock because it doesn’t damage the back of the sheet rock. If
you damage the back of the sheet rock, the threads of the screw will just twist and twist and not grab. And on any types of wood, the threaded part of the screw starter will help you guide your screw in straight. This little tool is great for someone that doesn’t have a lot of strength in their hands. It will help you keep your job neat, and easy. Look for it in your local hardware store tool section. If you can’t find it then just give me a call and I will help you.
Do you have a tool that helps you do a job effortlessly? Send me an email and share it with me and I will share it in this article.
Now to the email….
Question: They no longer throw the little paper in my neighborhood, and I was so disappointed until I talked with you, and you showed me the website. My question is about my Corian countertop. Someone dropped a couple of globs of super glue on the countertop and it’s dry and as hard as a rock. How to I remove the glue without damaging the surface of the Corian?
Answer: You know it’s great to have hardware reps that can really answer hard questions. And Granite Gold came through with an answer. They said if it’s just on top of the Corian to try and scrape it off with a plastic putty knife. However, if it has permeated the surface of the Corian then it will have to be professionally cleaned and polished. Great question!
Question: I was just looking at my weather app and it says that it is going to get rain. Since it’s not cold, I am assuming the mosquitoes will be back with a vengeance. I have tons of plants on my deck, is there something that I can put in the saucers that would not harm my plants but keep the mosquitoes away?
Answer: Yes, there is, and it’s called Mosquito Dunks. It’s safe to use in flowerpots, tree holes, bird baths, rain barrels, roof gutter and animal watering troughs. Use one dunk for up to 100 square of feet of water surface, regardless of depth. They can be broken into portions and applied to containers of standing water like your plants. They work for 30 days, and it kills the mosquito larvae. Safe around your pets. Enjoy this weather while it lasts, I know I am.
Question: I have a loose tile up high in my shower. I know it’s not real wet there, but I know I need to seal it completely back down. I want to do it myself so is there an adhesive that would seal it back to the wall? The existing grout is white.
Answer: Try and clean off any crumbling thin set on the back of the tile and shower wall. Then apply Sascho Clean Seal Sealant on the back of the tile in a X. Now press the tile back in place and secure it with painter's tape. Use another shower while this sealant cures. The next day use Clean Seal to grout around the tile. If you use liquid soap on your finger when smoothing out the grout it will look
professionally done.
