Bio Zapp and Air Sponge

  • , by Trudy Chuoke Trudy Chuoke

I had a customer come in the other day and she told me about her poor dog that got sprayed by a skunk. She said that the dog just got a quick spritz in the face and she was able to clean it off and so she thought the worst was over. It was not.

After cleaning her dog and getting him settled in she went and took a shower. When she walked back into the den she realized quickly it was not all over. The dog had evidently swallowed the bulk of what the skunk sprayed him with and after she went to shower the dog got sick all over her rug. The house reeked and she didn’t know what to do. I told her to throw out the rug because it will never be the same. Luckily, it was just a throw rug and not a huge loss. But the problem was the floor was tile with grout and the grout had adsorbed the smell. And she said the air smelled so bad. She was worried that the AC would keep circulating this smell all over the house.

I told her to mop the flooring with Bio Zapp. She bought a couple a gallons and that took care of the smell down in the flooring. When you get such a pungent odor like that, you usually have to treat the area twice. But Bio Zapp is the best. There is nothing any better. When I bought my house, we pulled up the flooring and I had my contractor mop all the floors twice trying to get out the smoke smell from the previous owner. It’s unbelievable how smoke will get into every crack and crevice.

To handle the odor in the air she used Air Sponge. Like Bio Zapp, Air Sponge is an odor neutralizer. She placed 2 – 1lb containers in the den. Turned upside down, 75% of the Air Sponge exposed will clean up the air faster. It’s like a shock treatment for air. Then she placed one in the intake AC vent so that every time the unit came on, it would take this nice clean air smell throughout the house.

Do you see skunk activity around your home? There is a reason. It’s grub season. And skunks are looking for grubs to eat. If having skunks in the yard is not bad enough, to lose your whole yard to grubs is so expensive. Ask me, I have had to replace my front yard twice. The last time I made a commitment that no matter how busy I was, I was going to treat the yard for grubs. Triazicide is an easy way to kill grubs before they destroy your yard. Spectracide makes a granular, hose end and a concentrate to treat the yard. It will kill a number of pests. I like the hose-end and the granular. I also give what is left to my neighbors because our yards meet and if she gets grubs they will meander over to my yard.

I hope this information helps and I hope you had a great Labor Day Holiday.

Now to the email……

Question: I heard your radio show yesterday and you talked about a head light cleaner for fogged up lenses. My neighbor paid someone to clean her lenses about a year ago and they are cloudy again. Will this product work?

Answer: No. Once you clean a lens with a buffer and an abrasive cleaner it removes the clear coat that the lens is treated with from the manufacturer. Magic Clear Lens will not be able to clear up the headlight.

Question: Trudy, I had jury duty last week and when I parked I got an 8 x 8 sticker stuck to my driver’s side window. I forgot to put the paid ticket in my windshield. Well I can’t seem to get all that sticky residue off the window. I have tried Windex and a razor blade, and I still can’t see out of that window. Should I use Acetone?

Answer: I would use Lift Off in the formula made for tape and adhesives. Spray the area and start cleaning again with your straight edge razor blade. It might take a couple of times but the Lift Off works and it’s safer than Acetone around your car’s paint job.
