The medal is based on an actual photograph of Johnnie, taken in 2013. A portion of the photo was used on the cover of the March 2013 issue of the Local Community News, a neighborhood paper here in San Antonio.

K9s for Warriors

K9s for Warriors is the nation's largest Veteran service organization focused on providing highly trained Service Dogs to Warriors. The program focuses on mitigating symptoms of service-connected traumas.
The majority of K9s are rescued from shelters, thereby saving them from abandonment or euthanasia.
Each pair (veteran and service dog) who graduates from the program represents two lives saved.5/5
